Linger

whiffs of rogue raindrops
in black dreams
the strings of the night
plucked again
and they whisper no names
but the outstretched lips
touch a smile
it tastes like morning
the shadows linger
like old friends
and make awkward conversations
with a distracted dawn
the heart is yet to curl back
maybe after another whiff
another taste
of your lips
will you linger long enough?

    "Will you linger long enough?"
    Relatable longing!

P.S I really like the blog changes you've made. This galaxy image perfectly fits to the mood of this blog. Your words are like that, open different prospects to ponder on.

  5. There are moment when dawn comes as the end, a destructive disruptor.. and to linger would be best.

  8. How beautifully this read. I scanned it through then read it out aloud to get the full value in the spoken word.

    1. I also tend to read out loud certain pieces. There is an added layer of meanings and emotions when words are supported by sound. Glad to know you liked my poem. Thank you! :)

  9. The opening line is a stunning start to this starry poem...if only the magical things lingered like stars...
