Like a house erupting in flames
An imprint as such I cannot name
Mercilessly, I was, forever scarred
A foreign rage had left me charred
Strewn in pieces, my dignity smelt
Of rotting corpse; they never felt
A tug of remorse in their soul-less heart
As they barged in and tore me apart
My pleas, my threats amused them more
My quivers pursued their humanly core
A clever plan to subjugate
A human sharing an animal’s fate
Arrows of torture; bullets of shame
Pinned me to their reality game
Laughs and sneers; tears and screams
Stuck in this appalling dream
Momentary ambrosial feel
Hunt for a voluptuous deal
Humanity surpassed by the greed
Was it my religion, gender or creed
Oh my..this is so powerful in word and image. Humanity surpassed by the greed Was it my religion, gender or creed...brutality in word or deed so tragic...So many are more animal than human.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully powerfully written. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI arrived at your blog through gyanban.com, just randomly I suppose, and thought I like to see other writers and their works so here I am.
ReplyDeleteIn looking at this poem in particular, I find this built with deep impressions, I personally felt like I was watching someone get ripped to shreds.
The act that the words on this page present, compliment an ironic display of our world. Of course this would not be all aspects of our world, but I think the last line in your poem filters through as such.
Wonderfully done!
Really nice poem, you have a way with words as well! Kudos! :)
